HISTORY OF OUR CHURCH

James Island Baptist Church was organized on July 13, 1947, with 146 Charter Members. A ground-breaking ceremony for a new worship - education building was hold on December 5, 1948. During Sunday morning service on June 19, 1949, the new building was dedicated to the Lord. The Sanctuary ground-breaking was held January 1, 1956. On October 7, 1956, the new Sanctuary was dedicated to the Lord. The buildings have been through several renovations including: a kitchen/ fellowship hall remodel in 1978; bricking of the church was completed in 1989; addition of classrooms, restrooms, and much more in 1993; complete sanctuary renovation in 2001; and complete renovation of the Preschool & Children's areas in 2007.
